Youth Dies Using Dope in New York.
New York -- George Silva, 19, lies on the steps of a rooming house, dead, victim of a dope sniffing party. A New York City patrolman discovered the unconscious youth on the steps with friends bending over the still form of Silva. The friends assured the policeman that the youth would be "OK," but the patrolman thought otherwise and called an ambulance. The doctor pronounced the boy dead and the body was taken to Bellevue Morgue for an autopsy. Silva's friends, taken to a police station for questioning, said that Silva had inhaled some heroin and in half an hour became violently ill and collapsed. They are now being held for further questioning. (1954)
