Barbara Pepper was quite a stunner in those early days. She looked much different as the original Mrs. Ziffel on "Green Acres" some thirty years later. (That would make one heck of a Before and After!)

Poor Barbara Pepper. She quit show business in the '40s and married actor Craig Reynolds. The marriage was one of true love. Unfortunately, the husband was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1949, leaving Ms Pepper destroyed. She became an alcoholic and was suicidal. She truly went to seed. Her close friend Lucille Ball helped Ms Pepper by giving her any role available on I Love Lucy (the '20s showgirls episode comes to mind). Lucy helped Barbara land the part of Mrs. Ziffel in Green Acres. She was only 54 when she died, but was like a woman in her seventies. It is a tragic story.
