As I review the members of the "So Loathsome I Could Cry" category, I'd have to say that, for her lack of redeeming characteristics, Nancy's life falls far short of that of people such as Pinochet, Maddox, McCarthy or Murdock. I guess it's your call, though.

I'll readily concede that the number of persons she affected is incomparably lower.

But I question whether her "redeeming characteristics" could even approach the others in the category. Why, rumour has it that Maddox gave lollipops to [white] children, and that McCarthy supported clean sidewalks. Right there, I think that we've got two redeeming characteristics, which by all accounts were utterly lacking in Ms. Spungen.

And I will also concede that the category has largely focused on malevolent, soulless political figures. But its birth, midwifed by our guide and inspiration, mister sutpen, gave us Ty Cobb. Subsequent posts have featured the loathsome Papa Jackson. So I feel that I have not strayed too far.

And finally, I felt that cluttering Gunslinger with a new category [ the mere sight of her photo was so repulsive that I burned my laptop ] would be in worst taste than a mild liberty with an already expansive one.

Having now been an arch dick, let me add that Ms. Spungen in no way wreaked evil like the majority of the players here. Point taken, mister sock monkey one. . . .
