I recently heard the Band's music described as "instant folk music". In essence, as soon as the song was conceived, it became part of the lexicon...part of the continuum. Songs that sound like they could have been written 100 years ago...or last week or tomorrow.....all seats $3 $4 $5

Well said, Pribek.

Plus, an excuse for me to give another plug to The Last Waltz: if you haven't seen it in a decade, please rent it and give it another shot with the speakers up loud.

I haven't watched "The Last Waltz" in a while come to think of it. The first time I saw it was at the Tivoli in St. Louis. It was several months after the release and a lot of the audience knew every scene. Was like a cross between an actual concert and a "Rocky Horror" type of experience.

There don't seem to be any other entries in The Art of the Gig series that are not vintage. I had assumed that was by design, which is what surprised me about this entry.
