Above, Burgess Meredith chats with director John Brahm (perhaps about Dickens, yes?) while shooting the episode "Time Enough at Last" from the first season of the The Twilight Zone.
Burgess Meredith, devoted bibliophile, is the only survivor of the cataclysm. He takes refuge in a library, where he has "time enough at last," where fate deals him a cruel blow.
This I believe is the episode Patton Oswalt cited when he said The Twilight Zone should have been named Nice Try, Asshole. Burgess Meredith thinks the destruction of civilization will give him all the time to read that he wants, only to break his eyeglasses -- "Nice try, asshole!"

I've been silently (and approvingly) been reading this blog for 4+ years now, but this is easily one of my favorite posts so far. Thanks a ton!

Recognized the source for instantly. Thank you!
Burgess Meredith gives a great performance in this (as well as the other TZ episodes he was in). He was always great to watch.

Bizarre, I just watched this episode only the day before I first saw this post. (Gotta say, the TZ blu-rays look stunning.)
