The Explanation
(for those who require one)

And, of course, that is what all of this is -- all of this: the one song, ever changing, ever reincarnated, that speaks somehow from and to and for that which is ineffable within us and without us, that is both prayer and deliverance, folly and wisdom, that inspires us to dance or smile or simply to go on, senselessly, incomprehensibly, beatifically, in the face of mortality and the truth that our lives are more ill-writ, ill-rhymed and fleeting than any song, except perhaps those songs -- that song, endlesly reincarnated -- born of that truth, be it the moon and June of that truth, or the wordless blue moan, or the rotgut or the elegant poetry of it. That nameless black-hulled ship of Ulysses, that long black train, that Terraplane, that mystery train, that Rocket '88', that Buick 6 -- same journey, same miracle, same end and endlessness."

Tuttle showing off his hunting trophy collection, which includes a Morlock which he shot a bajillion years from now.

The head he's holding looks like Stanley Kubrick.

And, of course, on the far right of the second row on the wall is the famous Jimmy Durante mask we all know and love.

Is that modern-day Keith Richards next to his left foot? I'm enjoying this game!

One disturbing aspect (among several) is that I can't tell if the legs next to him are real or not.

Greg said...

estiv, I didn't even notice those legs until just now. They look real enough but who the hell knows.

Lloyd Nolan,Fred Astaire,Jimmy Durante..They all had to go!
and isn't that poor miss Jane Hathaway 3rd from right on the bottom row?

Dorian Grey on the bench, I think.

The last two on the top row, and the last one on the second row, really do look like Lloyd Nolan, Fred Astaire and Jimmy Durante, enough that I'd say those must be plastercasts of them. The others I'm not so sure of and I'm too lazy to go through every Tuttle credit on IMDB and match up the stars.

Tuttle worked on The Bandwagon and other MGM musicals..might explain Astaire..the other 3 to the left of Nolan look like..Robert Evans,CRISWELL..and Lew Ayres

I was just trying to figure out what he was doing with the head of Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

And the lady in front left,is my ex sister in-law next morning after the christmas party in the firma..

The guy next to Jimmy Durante is Paul Newman, look at his mouth... The guy to the left Lloyd Nolan looks kinda like Dennis Hopper, but couldn't be...Totally agree that's Nolan, Astaire and Durante.

I keep thinking the top left head is Christopher Walken. (I know, it's not.)

And my first impression of the woman's face was Agnes Moorhead, but the nose isn't quite right.

I'm sorry, next to Durante is Red Buttons.
