Blair House Police Shot in Truman Assassination Attempt.

Washington -- Three White House policemen were shot on the steps of the Blair House today by two men who tried to force their way into the President's home in an assassination attempt. Both assailants were down in a hail of bullets fired by the police and secret service agents. One gunman was instantly killed and the other wounded. Pvt. Leslie Coffelt died of his wounds. (1950)
