The Explanation
(for those who require one)

And, of course, that is what all of this is -- all of this: the one song, ever changing, ever reincarnated, that speaks somehow from and to and for that which is ineffable within us and without us, that is both prayer and deliverance, folly and wisdom, that inspires us to dance or smile or simply to go on, senselessly, incomprehensibly, beatifically, in the face of mortality and the truth that our lives are more ill-writ, ill-rhymed and fleeting than any song, except perhaps those songs -- that song, endlesly reincarnated -- born of that truth, be it the moon and June of that truth, or the wordless blue moan, or the rotgut or the elegant poetry of it. That nameless black-hulled ship of Ulysses, that long black train, that Terraplane, that mystery train, that Rocket '88', that Buick 6 -- same journey, same miracle, same end and endlessness."

Uh oh, its happening again. I'm getting the 'connections'! It started with Geraldine Page's before and After 218 on March 10th (who was recently rumoured to be a lover of James Dean)but maybe stretched back to Twilight of the Dreamboats no29. Raymond Massey appears in adventures In American Filmmaking no 130. Boomerang appears in Art Of Cinema no436 and now this! People who worked on East Of Eden? Or rope in Dennis Hopper from Self Portraits no12 for A People who worked with james Dean story. Or Monty Clift from Artists in Action no 572 for a people who worked with , well Kazan!
Then again thats Freud isn't it? Hmm John Huston's popping up a fair bit...

Look at his arm! It looks deformed, like something out of a horror film.

Peter, it's because it's both of his arms. I thought the same thing at first. His right arm and hand are visible to about the halfway point and then what you see is his left arm.

Tom and I should better coordinate when we're posting. I feel like I'm letting him down. I'm going to put some pics up later.

Kazan's having an apoplexy. "I've done everything I can to make them revile me--and they're giving me a lifetime achievement Oscar!?"

As for all these "connections," fair enough and totally cool. But it's all six degrees of separation, anyway.

The term L'enfant terrible comes to mind.
