They were collaborators on the A-bomb. But Oppy and Teller were at loggerheads on a lot of matters. The H-bomb, for instance. And I think they despised eachother. Teller was a major witness against Oppy when it came time to decide whether to pull Oppy's security clearance. What I see here is a dying man and a healthy man who don't like eachother but are trying to be cordial. That's all.

Yes, Teller is looking fit as a fiddle. This is long before Jane Fonda gave him that heart attack.

Teller found Oppenheimer far too ambiguous in his views. When Teller was detailed to work on the H Bomb, Oppenheimer commented that it would be many years before anyone could improve on their work. Did he mean the Soviets or did he mean that Teller could never beat Oppie? Either way Teller was well pissed off and remained so.

Oppy let Teller work on fusion devices at Los Alamos because the fucker (Teller) wouldn't lend a goddamn hand with the fission research that they needed then and there. So Oppy just let him go his own way.

Oppenheimer was able to build a coalition among people intensely motivated to create the bomb. Teller wasn't able to yield to anyone.

Makes me wonder when Teller sprouted those wing-like eyebrows that he was noted for.
