The Explanation
(for those who require one)
And, of course, that is what all of this is -- all of this: the one song, ever changing, ever reincarnated, that speaks somehow from and to and for that which is ineffable within us and without us, that is both prayer and deliverance, folly and wisdom, that inspires us to dance or smile or simply to go on, senselessly, incomprehensibly, beatifically, in the face of mortality and the truth that our lives are more ill-writ, ill-rhymed and fleeting than any song, except perhaps those songs -- that song, endlesly reincarnated -- born of that truth, be it the moon and June of that truth, or the wordless blue moan, or the rotgut or the elegant poetry of it. That nameless black-hulled ship of Ulysses, that long black train, that Terraplane, that mystery train, that Rocket '88', that Buick 6 -- same journey, same miracle, same end and endlessness."

Good i hate Kiss. I wonder if he will be buried in one of those dumb Kiss caskets.
A beautiful picture.
A beautiful, and talented, actress.
For some reason I've got Brando on the brain at the moment and, of course, Jean Simmons was in Desiree and Guys and Dolls with him.
What a gorgeous image: green becomes Jean, truly.
No wonder Crassus sent eight legions to conquer her!
Wasn't she one of JFK's GFs? Or am I confusing her with Gene Tierney?
Good night, sweet princess.
there goes the perfect movie wife!:o(
Green's okay, I liked her in clouded yellow.
What a lovely photo.
Beautiful photo of her and thank you for posting it.
Stephen, ya beat me too it!
Jean has always been one of my favorite actresses. Excellent in any role she tried. Thanks for the beautiful photo. May she rest in peace.
Lovely photo and interesting with the old pick-up in the background (which I make out to be a late forties Chevy or GMC). She had a nice screen presence and perhaps had a bit more range than the studios gave her credit for. Off topic, what's going on around here? Where are our boys (and girl)? Was there an announcement that I missed?
No announcement, just wanted to give Miss Simmons her time in the spotlight yesterday, that's all. Updates above.
Thanks Greg. Whew, my hands were beginning to shake, withdrawl I think.
Gorgeous photo!
