How great would it be to live across the street from this place?

This great film palace (small as it was) later became an adult theater, then was left for naught (he-he) & remained vacant, as it decayed. A couple years ago, it was replaced by an office complex.

Too bad. I love the box office contained in the column by the way.

I spent a lot of time in this theater. I grew up only 4 blocks away on Ann street in Ventura. My time was not spent there when it was a film theater or when it became the Pussycat adult theater. Instead, for a few years in the early 90s when it was the last place that the now infamous Insomniac Coffeehouse was housed. I saw some great bands there and met the worst girlfriend of all time there too. I will always fondly remember it unique architecture and hanging out in the projection booth with the remnants of Pussycat theater popcorn buckets and movie posters. It eventually burned from the inside in a "mysterious" fire when the new purchasers, who were planning to open a new business in it, suddenly ran out of money. Sad.

Before everything was generic, obviously corporate and mass-produced.
