The Explanation
(for those who require one)

And, of course, that is what all of this is -- all of this: the one song, ever changing, ever reincarnated, that speaks somehow from and to and for that which is ineffable within us and without us, that is both prayer and deliverance, folly and wisdom, that inspires us to dance or smile or simply to go on, senselessly, incomprehensibly, beatifically, in the face of mortality and the truth that our lives are more ill-writ, ill-rhymed and fleeting than any song, except perhaps those songs -- that song, endlesly reincarnated -- born of that truth, be it the moon and June of that truth, or the wordless blue moan, or the rotgut or the elegant poetry of it. That nameless black-hulled ship of Ulysses, that long black train, that Terraplane, that mystery train, that Rocket '88', that Buick 6 -- same journey, same miracle, same end and endlessness."

Great image, courtesy of Eve Arnold, who surely deserves a Cool Hall Of Fame entry herself. Can't of been easy for a little Jewish lady hanging round the Nation Of Islam and their cronies (which, as Eve's photo's showed, included George Rockwell and the American National Socialists party - go figure!)Apparently she was forced to wear special nonflammable clothing after cigarette butts were regularly stubbed out on her.

Truly great image...Testify...awesome not-so-trivial trivia...George Lincoln Rockwell...didn't he look like Marlon Brando...:-)

Marlon Brando played George Rockwell in Roots: The Saga of an American Family dramatising a Playboy interview that Alex Haley conducted with him in 1966 (I think).

It should be pointed out that X, after breaking with the Nation of Islam in 1965 sent Rockwell a warning. Rockwell was driving his VW Hate Bus (the US Nazi's answer to the Freedom Riders)through the US south and X advised him that he should expect "maximum physical retaliation from those of us who are not hand-cuffed by the disarming philosophy of nonviolence" should Martin Luther King, Jr. or "any other black Americans who are only attempting to enjoy their rights as free human beings" be harmed.

Rockwell, Farrakhan and Elijah Muhammed: three bastards united by their common hatred of Jews. Two are already in hell with the third ready to join them, hopefully soon.
