The single worst hack in the history of the world. Ever see the ruinously juvenile "Sympathy for the devil". The guy should have offed himself there and then.
I second the anon comment... the whole "look at me how smart I am" thing he does of quoting from different movies, books, etc, gets transparently tiresome very early in his career... he challenged a lot of asumptions of how narrative films ought to be done I'll give him that, but his movies genereally leave me cold... they are showy hyperintelligent essays disguised as stories, done by an overanxious bright 13 year old... I'd rather have Turffauts romanticism over his intellectual pyrotechnics anytime...
You're right about Pierrot, Kreisler..Band of Outsiders is one of my favs too..BTW Criterion will be releasing MAde In USA and 2 or 3 things I know About her mid july this year..

The single greatest director in the history of the world. Ever see the brilliantly sly 'Pierrot le Fou'? We should all offer thanks and praise.
...and if you go handing out pictures of Chairman Mao/you ain't gonna make it with anyone, anyhow...
