As k.d. lang used to say, "The higher the hair, the closer to God." Which would explain a lot of these old gospel LP covers.

According to the liner notes, "The Joyful Sounds travel hundreds of miles every year spreading the gospel in song."

Note that this would be true even if they only drove a few miles back and forth to their local church every week.

Also recorded in Bristol, Virginia, where the early recordings of the Carter Family and Jimmy Rodgers were first waxed.

Sadly, The Joyful Sounds did not go on to have the same impact on music.
