The Explanation
(for those who require one)
And, of course, that is what all of this is -- all of this: the one song, ever changing, ever reincarnated, that speaks somehow from and to and for that which is ineffable within us and without us, that is both prayer and deliverance, folly and wisdom, that inspires us to dance or smile or simply to go on, senselessly, incomprehensibly, beatifically, in the face of mortality and the truth that our lives are more ill-writ, ill-rhymed and fleeting than any song, except perhaps those songs -- that song, endlesly reincarnated -- born of that truth, be it the moon and June of that truth, or the wordless blue moan, or the rotgut or the elegant poetry of it. That nameless black-hulled ship of Ulysses, that long black train, that Terraplane, that mystery train, that Rocket '88', that Buick 6 -- same journey, same miracle, same end and endlessness."

Hell. When was this taken.
He looks better than ever!

Obviously these girls hadn't yet been to see Cape Fear.
Maybe not, but golly he looks harmless, seems like smoking that green stuff keeps you suave.
They are telling him how much they liked Night Of The Hunter.
and Lou Reed wrote
"Can I have your autograph?
he said to the fat blonde actress.
I've seen every film you've been in -
Gee when ya kissed Ro-bert Mitchum
ah but i thought you'd never catch him.
You're over the hill right now,
and lookin for love ..."
He's such a dude, he's such a guy, you know he's so half asleep - J. Cope
Based on the girls attire, glasses and hairstyles, I'd say this was just about 1985, or maybe '86 at the latest. The girls look so familiar to me because they could have walked right out of my high school class! It is pretty funny how suave the dude is!
