Fischer's been dead for quite some time; since his youth, in fact - his body didn't catch up until now. One can judge him by the his brillaint chess, but here was an automata that played like a man, more of a Mechanical Turk, but manipulated by demons who arranged patterns mere Grandmasters couldn't recognize.

His defeat of Spassky must rank as one of the greatest sporting achievements of the 20th century - one man pretty much vs. 30 years of the Russian chess juggernaut. It would be like a team of yak shepherds from outer mongolia winning the world series.

Has there ever been a good documentary made about that game? it would make a riveting feature i think.
