The Explanation
(for those who require one)
And, of course, that is what all of this is -- all of this: the one song, ever changing, ever reincarnated, that speaks somehow from and to and for that which is ineffable within us and without us, that is both prayer and deliverance, folly and wisdom, that inspires us to dance or smile or simply to go on, senselessly, incomprehensibly, beatifically, in the face of mortality and the truth that our lives are more ill-writ, ill-rhymed and fleeting than any song, except perhaps those songs -- that song, endlesly reincarnated -- born of that truth, be it the moon and June of that truth, or the wordless blue moan, or the rotgut or the elegant poetry of it. That nameless black-hulled ship of Ulysses, that long black train, that Terraplane, that mystery train, that Rocket '88', that Buick 6 -- same journey, same miracle, same end and endlessness."

Nice shot of Wanda! I think that's the same dress she wore on that Town Hall Concert TV show that you can see clips of on YouTube...
Gotta love that gal! She's the only person in the world who says the word "man" with 3 or 4 syllables.
Funnel of Love is still one of my favourite singles of all time (actually, I think it was the b-side of Right or Wrong). Love that Roy Clark egyptian guitar riff.
She's in London performing live on Friday and Saturday night and I think they still have tickets. I'm going on Saturday with fellow blogger: Testify, there is a write up from the last show she did in London on his blog: http://testifyse15.blogspot.com/
I hope you guys can catch her in your neck of the woods...
I saw her her in AZ a zillion years ago seems like - she was in her country incarnation, but still had that voice and energy. One of a kind Wanda.
Gotta love Wanda Jackson.I'm looking forward to this weekend's performance in London, see you there Richard.
I heard she did some shows with members of the Cramps as her backup...I can only imagine...
She recorded an album with members of The Cramps.
The Cramps whatever happened to them?
You used to see their fans, always in the pubs on the outskirts of town, I don't think they liked to go into the town centre.
Happy to say Wanda rocked London to its very foundations last night!
