I grew up reading Herb Caen... He was already a legend long before I came along... He had popularized "three-dot journalism," with short items separated by elipses... He coined the word "beatnik," too, in a 1958 column... I probably became a journalist myself because of Herb Caen's influence... Thanks for posting his photograph!
