One of the great individual performances ever by Power. Twisted, sadistic, and very subversive, I was fascinated from the very first frame, which Edmund Goulding, an almost forgotten great, no doubt intended. The brightness of Tyrone's usual dash was perverted into something so sinister, it should be acknowledged for its absolute perfection. Poor Stanton, in his quest for the light, he was meant for darker things.
