The Explanation
(for those who require one)

And, of course, that is what all of this is -- all of this: the one song, ever changing, ever reincarnated, that speaks somehow from and to and for that which is ineffable within us and without us, that is both prayer and deliverance, folly and wisdom, that inspires us to dance or smile or simply to go on, senselessly, incomprehensibly, beatifically, in the face of mortality and the truth that our lives are more ill-writ, ill-rhymed and fleeting than any song, except perhaps those songs -- that song, endlesly reincarnated -- born of that truth, be it the moon and June of that truth, or the wordless blue moan, or the rotgut or the elegant poetry of it. That nameless black-hulled ship of Ulysses, that long black train, that Terraplane, that mystery train, that Rocket '88', that Buick 6 -- same journey, same miracle, same end and endlessness."

I so wanted to run this photo on my site. It's to die for.

It definitely is.

It's probably THE strangest photo of Phil Spector to date (and that's saying a LOT).

Anyway, go on and grab it from here and put it on your blog. I sure won't complain. And since it's a Wire Service photo, nobody'll care if it gets wide usage.

Is that hair the new "wall of sound"?

Wow, I always wondered what happened to that honky red-haired kid with the 'fro, on "Room 222" - Spector is channeling his hair!

The bizarre thing is, Spector once lost his housekeys in that hair.

LOL!!

I think some of those tapes from the Lennon "Rock & Roll" sessions are probably in there as well.

Believe it or not, though, that's a wig. Spector's been wearing them since the early 60s. Just look at some of those publicity photos he did with The Teddy Bears. Guy was 18 and he was already folically-challenged.

A wig? That he bought? With his own money??

I always thought that Donald Trump couldn't possibly be wearing a rug because his hair looks so ugly. I may have to re-evaluate that assessment.

My understanding is that Trump doesn't wear a wig. It's just a really extreme comb-over.

But that thing Spector wore in Court last week . . . jeez. Does he really wanna beef up his Maniac/Weirdo reputation at this point?

Isn't Trump's hair more of a comb-forward? Not that I want to spend any more time than I have to thinking about Donald Trump's hair.

The first thing I thought about was Hanna-Barbara's Hair Bear Bunch. That and latter day Stan Freberg.

It ain't no Teddy Bear, but to know him is to love him...

This will go a long way for his insanity defense.
